EHCP support
EHCP and SEND support for families
The paperwork is hard. We have done it from both sides of the table.

An Education, Health and Care Plan is a legal document that sets out the support a child with special educational needs must receive. Getting one for an under-five means evidence, the right wording and knowing how the local authority process works. Zoe spent over ten years in the London Borough of Ealing’s SEND and Inclusion Team, Leanne led a nurture unit and supported families through the EHCP process in a specialist school, and Michaela ran inclusion provision from nursery to secondary.
For our families that means daily evidence gathered in the EYParent app, Early Help Assessments opened where appropriate, referrals made to the right professionals, and a team that will sit with you through the request, the assessment and the annual review.

How we support this

An honest conversation about what an EHCP would and would not change.
Evidence
Observations, targets and progress recorded daily and written up for the application.
Referrals
Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy, paediatrics and Portage through the correct routes.
Early Help
EHAP opened where appropriate so the family is supported, not just the child.
Meetings
We attend or host multi-agency meetings in our private meeting room.
School transition
Choosing a school, visiting, and handing over the plan.
What parents say
5.0★★★★★Google · 2 reviewsWe honestly couldn't be more impressed with this nursery. It's so refreshing to see a setting that is SEN-focused while being genuinely inclusive and welcoming to every child. It feels like they've created an environment where every child is seen as an individual and their needs are understood and supported. The nursery is exceptionally clean, bright and welcoming, with so much thought put into the imaginative play and activities. What really stands out is the level of one-to-one attention they give to each child.
The facilities at the nurture nest are outstanding! I have been coming to the stay and play for around 6 months with my 2 year old as I was slightly concerned that he was delayed in his speech.
Questions parents ask
Which boroughs do you work with?
Ealing most often, and Hounslow, Hillingdon and Brent for families who live there.
How long does an EHCP take?
The statutory timescale is 20 weeks from request to final plan; in practice gathering evidence first makes the process smoother.
Do I need an EHCP to get a place with you?
No. Most of our children do not have one when they start.
Is this service free?
Support with the process is part of what every child at The Nurture Nest receives. There is no extra charge.
