Two is the age when parents and health visitors most often notice differences in speech, play or attention, and when the Progress Check at 2 happens. It is also the age when the right support makes the biggest difference. At The Nurture Nest two-year-olds get a 1:3 ratio, a key person who knows them, and days built around communication, play and regulation.

Mornings start with free-flow and settling play, then circle time and songs, focused small-group activities, snack and story, and outdoor play in the garden. Afternoons mirror the mornings after lunch and a sensory regulation break.

What we focus on at two

  • Talking and understanding

Words, signs, pictures and songs, every single day.

  • Playing alongside and then with others

Sharing, turn taking and first friendships in groups of three.

  • Toileting and independence

Feeding, dressing, hand washing and toileting when your child is ready.

  • Big feelings

Co-regulation, calm spaces and consistent boundaries rooted in understanding, not punishment.

  • Progress Check at 2

Completed with you, and used to shape your child’s individual plan.

Questions parents ask

Does my 2-year-old qualify for funded hours?

Eligible working parents get 30 hours from the term after the child turns two, and some families qualify for the Early Learning for 2 year olds entitlement. Ealing’s early years funding team can confirm eligibility, and we will help with the paperwork.

My toddler is not talking yet. Is this the right place?

Very likely yes. Speech and language delay is the most common reason families come to us, and Speech and Language Therapy principles are built into every day.

How many days a week?

Children are eventually registered for at least two full days or three half-day sessions a week so routines stick.
